About David
David is a lifelong resident of Hampton Roads and has devoted his life to public service for our community. He is a seasoned prosecutor with over 17 years of experience keeping our community safe. After beginning his criminal law career as a Public Defender, he served as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney and Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney in the City of Chesapeake. David then went on to serve with Attorney General Jason Miyares as an Assistant Attorney General, assigned to criminal litigation, cold cases, writs of actual innocence, and special investigations. He currently serves on the Board of Juvenile Justice as an appointee of Governor Glenn Youngkin and on the Chesapeake Community Criminal Justice Board.
Having personally handled over a thousand cases from misdemeanors to murder, David has the proven record we can trust. He has tried numerous jury trials and has successfully argued criminal cases at every level of Virginia Courts, even the Supreme Court of Virginia. In addition to being a skilled trial lawyer, David has also mentored many attorneys and led a team of prosecutors as a Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney in Chesapeake.
David is running because Chesapeake deserves a Commonwealth’s Attorney who refuses to put politics over prosecution. He will expand community outreach and build community partnerships to prevent crime and reduce recidivism rates. David will uphold the rule of law, hold criminals accountable, seek justice, and, most importantly, put victims first.
“I have spent my career making the community we live in a safer place. I am running for Commonwealth’s Attorney because our city needs a prosecutor who is unafraid to face violent crime head-on.”
